Five crew members were rescued by the container boat. The other 12 crew members were still falling unknown.

It is understood that the cement transport ship "Xinshun No. 1" was driven by 20 Indonesian crew members. On the morning of the incident, the huge waves set off by the tropical storm "Nalgae) attacked the ship Essence When a big wave rushed across the deck, three crew members were injured and were then sent to the local hospital for treatment by the helicopter.

A few hours later, at 3:10 pm on the 31st, the remaining 17 crew members on board notified the Taiwan Port Authority that they would abandon the ship to escape because the ship was suspected to be sinking due to the engine failure.

It is believed that 17 crew members tried to evacuate by lifeboat, but affected by the storm fell into the water. A 2851teu "EVER BIRTH" was rescued from the water from the Evergreen container ship. The Taiwan Coast Guard is searching for another 12 missing crew members. It is believed that the other 12 missing crew members may drift by one or more lifeboats.

The Taiwan Coast Guard sent a patrol boat to assist, which reported that "Xinshun No. 1" sank at 26 kilometers from Changhua Coast at 8:45 pm on the 31st. The helicopter is searching for the waters with a probe light to find the crew.

On November 1, the Taiwan Coast Guard reported that two floating karate boats were found near the shipwreck, which caused concerns about the missing crew. Two patrol vessels have been sent to help find the missing crew, and at the same time ask nearby ships to maintain alertness. However, the storm hindered the rescue work.

It is understood that at the time of the incident, the cargo ship "Xindhun No. 1" full of cement was on the way from Cailan Port, Vietnam to Taichung Port, China, and originally planned to arrive at Taichung Port on the afternoon of October 31.
