What is WEEE?


The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling Act implements the European Union Directive (WEEE) to regulate the recycling of all electrical and electronic products in Germany, requiring sellers to take back and dispose of sold waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Consequences of not registering for German WEEE?

The following product categories that need to be registered with WEEE are for reference only:


1. Heat exchanger


Appliances with integrated circuits that use substances other than water, such as gases, oils, refrigerants and refrigerants, or secondary substances, for cooling/heating or dehumidification purposes. Such as: refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, dehumidifier, heat pump


2. Screen device


An electronic device used to display images and information on an electronic screen, regardless of the size of the screen. Such as: monitors, televisions, LCD screens, notebooks/tablets, e-book readers, and control devices, etc.


3. Lighting equipment


A facility for the production of lamps, means an electric light source that can be installed or replaced by the end user in designated terminal equipment. Such as: fluorescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, discharge lamps, LED lamps, etc.

4. Large electronic equipment


Appliances with external dimensions exceeding 50 cm but not yet covered by categories 1-3. Such as: household appliances, consumer electronic equipment, electric heaters, ventilators, sunbeds, photovoltaic modules, etc.


5. Small electronic equipment


Appliances with external dimensions less than or equal to 50 cm but not in classes 1-4 or 6. Such as: small household appliances, flashlights, small fans, watches, light bars, electronic scales, speakers, MP3, cameras, etc. (Currently, Amazon seller products are mainly in Category 5.)


6. Small IT and telecommunications equipment


Collection, transmission, processing, storage and presentation of information and electronic equipment for telecommunication transmission of signals, voice, video and data, spatial distances, external dimensions less than or equal to 50 cm, not yet covered by these categories 1-4. Such as: mobile phones, GPS navigation, computers, printers, routers, telephones, etc.
