The country’s largest port is overwhelmed on the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, and it takes 7 days for container ships to berth
Eid al-Fitr is one of the most grand traditional festivals for Muslims. This festival marks the end of Ramadan. After Eid al-Fitr, the work efficiency of Muslim guests is expected to return to normal.
However, due to the epidemic this year and the special circumstances of the spread of the Indian epidemic to neighboring countries, many countries have implemented strict controls during the Eid al-Fitr. For example: Malaysia’s latest epidemic prevention regulations require nationwide coverage from May 12 to June 7. Implementation of the "movement control order" within the country, Eid al-Fitr celebrations and religious activities will also be restricted.

It is reported that after the Eid al-Fitr celebrations last week, Chittagong, the main seaport of Bangladesh, faced serious queuing of ships and congestion in the container yard.
Yesterday, about 28 container ships were in the port, and 17 of them were waiting at the outer anchorage.
It is estimated that these vessels can take up to 7 days to berth, but as of today, the number of waiting vessels has been reduced to 14, of which 11 are loading and unloading containers.
However, about 40,306 teu containers are stranded in the port yard, which has a total capacity of 49,000 teu, which hinders daily operations.
It is reported that MSC's "Oel Colombo" and COSCO's "Ornella" waited 7 days to obtain a berth.

Chittagong Port Authority spokesperson Omar Faruk said the congestion was due to the slowdown caused by Eid al-Fitr and its activities.
He said: "Actually, on the day of Eid al-Fitr, there was no work in the port," he said, and container transportation at the port yard was also stopped.
The Bangladesh Container Shipping Association wrote to the Chittagong Port Authority at the beginning of this month requesting to strengthen the allocation of berths for container ships to avoid ship congestion after Eid al-Fitr, but the plan did not work for the outer anchorage.
